The teenager was found dead this Thursday morning, around 6:30 a.m., in the village of Clessé, “on the public highway”. It was a local resident who discovered the body and called the emergency services, reports BFMTV. The teenager would have disappeared Wednesday evening, according to the local press.

The boyfriend, 14, in custody

The victim’s boyfriend has been taken into custody, police said. The only suspect at this stage, he is 14 years old, added the same source. The public prosecutor, Éric Jallet, came to the scene in the morning. He will hold a press conference at 6 p.m. in Mâcon.

“Totally incomprehensible”

According to the rector of the Dijon Academy, Pierre N’Gahanne, the young girl was in 4th grade at the college of Lugny, a town near her village of Clessé, where she had completed all her primary schooling. “What happened is totally incomprehensible,” he told BFMTV, adding “no report of harassment” had been recorded within the victim’s college.

“A trouble-free child”

“She was a problem-free child who worked well,” he insisted. Asked about reports that she had just been through a painful breakup, the rector said it was “possible”.

The research section of the Dijon gendarmerie deployed an important device in this wine-growing village of 800 inhabitants, located about fifteen kilometers north of Mâcon. The school was closed on Thursday.
