2016 world champion Nico Rosberg has been banned from entering the Formula 1 paddock for refusing to be vaccinated against Covid-19.
Sky Deutschland viewers in Monaco wondered why the 36-year-old former driver was reporting from his flat next to the circuit rather than joining his colleagues in the paddock.
His ban, in accordance with the sport’s mandatory vaccination policy, was upheld despite the fact that his world title granted him a pass in the paddock for life.
“I recovered well from the corona and therefore have strong antibodies,” explains Rosberg.
“I also have my antibodies tested regularly.”
“Under these circumstances, my doctor advised me that vaccination would make absolutely no sense.”
