The absolute majority is not acquired, far from it. The president calls for mobilization “in the name of values”. Objective: to demonize the left-wing coalition which could prevent it from governing without external support.

VSIt’s a great scare for Emmanuel Macron. At the end of the first round of the legislative elections this Sunday, and against a background of historic abstention (53%, according to Ipsos), the “Together” coalition, which brings together the Renaissance parties and its allies from the MoDem, Agir and Horizons, comes just behind the New Ecological and Popular Union (Nupes) set up by Jean-Luc Mélenchon after the presidential election. Insubordinate France and its allies obtain 25.6% of the votes when the Macronists total only 25.2%, according to the first estimates. This score marks a poor performance compared to 2017 for the Elysée tenant. Five years ago, he had garnered 32%.
