UA shooting was reported Thursday in the state of Maryland, United States. Authorities said there were multiple victims, CNN reported.
Police responded to the scene of the shooting, near the Columbia Machine factory in Smithsburg, around 2:30 p.m. local time. In a recent press release, police reported at least 4 casualties, 3 of whom died and one seriously injured.
Still according to the authorities, the shooter “is no longer a threat and has been neutralized”. The statement said shots were exchanged between the suspect and a member of law enforcement. Both are injured and have been taken to hospital.
At this time, the sheriff’s office can confirm that all of the victims and the suspect were Columbia Machine employees. The suspect is still released by law enforcement and has been identified as a 23-year-old Hispanic male residing in West Virginia.
The motive for the shooting is still under investigation. The FBI was contacted.
