Ritual slaughter in Brussels: an MP votes against his party’s order and is expelled on the spot

The president of Vooruit Conner Rousseau announced on Friday the immediate withdrawal of the Brussels deputy Fouad Ahidar from the party’s political bureau, for having voted against the party’s instructions in the file of the slaughter of animals without prior stunning.

In committee, Mr. Ahidar had come out against the proposed order aimed at prohibiting slaughter without stunning.

Thursday evening, Conner Rousseau had made it clear that Vooruit was in favor of this proposal and that Fouad Ahidar would suffer the consequences of his vote if he rejected it.
