Two Nigerians were charged on Thursday with conspiracy to bring a child to the UK to harvest his organs, British police said. Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, a 55-year-old woman, and Ike Ekweremadu, a 60-year-old man, are charged with conspiracy to organize and/or facilitate the travel of a person for the purpose of exploitation, in this case the removal of organs.

They have both been remanded in custody and will appear in court in Uxbridge, west London, on Thursday. These charges follow an investigation by the Metropolitan Police of London, alerted in May to potential violations of the law on slavery.
