Windows 11, Microsoft releases new ISO images

Microsoft releases new Windows 11 ISO images. Please note that they are aimed at users registered in the Windows Insider program.

Clearly if you download these ISO images of Windows 11, they offer the installation of a Preview. This is build 25140 recently deployed to the DEV channel.

These ISOs are useful because it becomes possible to install the OS from scratch and not via an update of the existing one. They also make it possible to discover the latest innovations offered by Microsoft through a virtual machine.

Windows 11 build 25140, focus is bug fixing

One of the updates is to the glyphs available in the Euphemia font. The firm details

The Euphemia font covers most languages that use Canadian syllabics […] In the latest Insider builds, we’ve updated this font to improve its readability and on-screen rendering of over 200 characters of various sizes. We have also added new glyphs to support Unicode 14 characters for the Canadian Arctic Nattilik language.

For the rest we have fixes for File Explorer, Settings, Inputs and Task Manager. For example the giant fixes a problem affecting the selection of English (New Zealand) in the OOBE. It leads to the selection of the Arabic keyboard (101). Normally the problem of crashing with the Task Manager is fixed as well as the problem causing the audio playback to stop in certain applications after one minute.

All of these enhancements are exclusively for the Dev channel. For the moment we have no precise timetable for the “general public” deployment. It should be noted that the Dev channel is a testing ground. Microsoft can test new features, optimizations and other things without necessarily having a specific plan for the “mainstream” deployment. Some proposed features may even end up being discontinued.
